Basic paperbag mini album

Hi everyone,

Todays post is for my latest mini album tutorial which is a basic paperbag construction using binding rings on the cover.  This makes it quiet an easy album cover to make and it saves time making binding strips!  Anything that saves time in my book is great, there's always a million and one things to do!!

This is the second project for my guest designer time with Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  The collection I am showcasing is the Chic Boudoir.
Here are the links

Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/ephemerasgarden

Blogspot  http://ephemerasvintagegarden.blogspot.co.uk/

website http://www.ephemerasvintagegarden.com/journals.html

So here it is...

On the cover I did a lot of cutting and upraising the papers from the collection and on some I have used glossy accents to highlight, that particular page is my favorite so I just had to use it!! The papers I used to cover the boards for the covers are by prima. Flowers and seam binding are from wild orchid crafts and ribbon girl.

Have a great week, enjoy the sunshine!    Hugs Julie

Hi everyone,

I haven't done a blog post for a while so thought a tutorial might be a good idea.  Let's hope it gets your creative juices flowing!!!!

My tutorial is for an insert for a mini album which can be added toan  internal pocket or stuck to an album page.  But that's not all it can be used as a card or a brag book too.  You can even use it to send a letter to someone special and add some photos or keepsakes inside.  It should put a big smile on someones face when it drops on the doormat,  we don't seem to send letters these days, I only ever get bills!!!!

The link to my video tutorial which is on my you tube channel is HERE

The beautiful images on the front and back covers are from Janet's shop called by digital paper at Etsy.com and you can link HERE  Janet has some gorgeous vintage images, my favourite and lots of other themes too so pop over and have a look.

Have a good day

Hello everyone,

I was lucky enough to come 2nd in the Shabby tea room challenge recently and won some beautiful vintage images from Janet, she has an etsy shop where she sells the vintage files click here to find out more.

Debbie-Anne has asked me to Guest design for her this week, which I am really excited about and has given me this baby shower themed photo for inspiration....

So I thought I would make a brag book, to show off the photos taken at the baby shower.
The colours are really wonderful, pastel blues and pinks, yellows and greens.  Of course it has that Shabby look, one of my favourite styles along with vintage.

So here are some photos of the brag book....

The base of the pages were made with small standard (6 1/4" x 4 1/2") envelopes, cut open on both long edges so that they measure 6 1/4" x 4" (one opening side to fit over the binding tabs and the other for the pocket opening).  Then I matted the entire page on both sides with spring drop and spring feast first edition papers.
On the inside of each of the page pockets you will be able to add a tag measuring 5 3/4" x 3 3/4".
The spine is made with card measuring 6 3/4"x 5" (score it longways at 2" and 3") The two outside sections are stuck onto the inside of the two cover pieces making the pocket on the inner cover.  Have a look at this photo.....

The two covers are 6 3/4" x 4 1/4".
The binding method used was the stack the deck by Laura Denison with 1/8" gaps between the pages tabs.  I used tabs of 3/8".  You can find out how to bind in this way from Laura's you tube site.
I have added a doily which I used as a stencil to give little patches of pattern on the blank cover and then inked them a tiny bit more using brilliance inks, sticking some sections near the edges.  You can find some lovely vintage baby images with the stork which you can scan from google images.
I finished it with a banner made from tiny paper triangles and another with ribbon strips,  the odd bits of patchwork on the front cover were from some scraps of paper I had in my stash, sorry I don't know who makes it.  Then just a few bows and tiny flowers to set it off.

If you have any questions just leave a comment and I will do my best to answer you.

Don't forget to go to the Shabby tea room site and find out about their weekly challenges.
Hope that I get the chance to Guest design for them again as I love this Shabby chic look.

Shabby teapot!!

Hello,

Today I am posting a card that has been great fun to make, mainly because it's not a huge job like a mini album or a video tutorial, just a nice small project where someone tells me the guide lines and I can just go for it .....Yes I'm going to make 2014 a go for it year!!!!
My daughter has been requesting lots of albums for sooo long now I just can't put her off any longer!!!

Anyhow, lets get back to my card.  The main colours are white and cream. Firstly I coated the card with matt medium and then used gesso over a stencil to give some nice texture.  The edges are inked with Ranger distress inks to bring in a bit of definition.  For the butterfly, a textured cardboard was used and then a scrape of gesso and glossy accents on the edges with a hint of glitter added for a bit of sparkle...{You can never have enough sparkle!!!!).
Also added was a die cut envelope and some flowers, buttons and ribbon to set it off.
Do you like my knitting? I haven't knitted for years and it is a hard task doing it with cocktail sticks!

Hope you like it...I am entering it into the challenge at The shabby tea room You should pop over and see the site.

 Have a good week
Hugs Julie x

Hi every one,

Firstly I must wish you all a very happy new year.

It's time to take down all those christmas decorations, and oh dosen't it look bare when they are gone.  It just seems like yesterday we were putting them up, where does the time go!!!!

Well we have another year to look forward to.....great new products and new companies to try out and all those things you have meant to try out and  haven't got around to yet....perhaps make this year the time to do them.

There is some sad news, I have finished working with the Visible Image design team after a year and a half of great fun.  The design team are a scream, especially Sue who should be in comedy!!!! I will miss them.  I wish them all good luck for the coming year with whatever they do.  Helen and Mark who own Visible Image are the nicest couple you could meet and they work so very hard.  I'm sure this year will be a very good one for them.

Now to why I have posted today...here are some pictures of the album that I was commisssioned to make.   I have a you tube video on my channel (sadly it is not a tutorial this time).  It will show the album in more detail if you are interested.

And here are the photos......

Have a great crafty week......

Vintage birthday record book

Hi there,

I've made mine just for myself....how lucky am I!!!!??  Makes a change to do things for myself! now I can record the dates and names on the inside pages for each month and use the tags to write down any gifts I buy through the year so I don't duplicate presents...when the tags are full I can just make some new ones.
