8th August 2012

Hi everyone,

Had a busy week crafting this week.  Lots to do for Lavinia and crafty Individuals.  Have a look at the vintage mini I have just completed on my last post.
Work has been mad, people off sick and a whole shop to move around for new season.  I seem to be shattered all the time.

Took a break on sunday to go to a lovely local craft show where all the crafts are judged, a bit like at a fate.  I went with my friend Fab friend Chris and we didn't stop chatting all day had the most wonderful biggest slice of homemade coffee and walnut cake  I have ever eaten (this is the yearly ritual at this show,  but I'm sure the slices were even bigger than usual!!!)  There are such a lot of quality crafts there and old fashioned ones and the people are always so friendly, we have a chat to them all about their wonderful talents.  Thanks Chris for a brill day.

Went to photogragh a HUGE field of poppies my partner had spotted on his travels around Dorset.  It was an amazing site. Here are a couple of my photos.....

I know my head look a bit funny but I forgot I had my glasses perched on top of it!!!

So to my work desk...

Doing a project for Lavina stamps which I will post soon.  If I can get some energy from some where to finish it!!!
Off to Julia's site to look at some desks now while I have a cuppa,

Have a great  week.

  12. Hi Julie, love, love, love the photos of the poppy fields - my favourite flower and my favourite way of seeing them grow :)

You seem to be incredibly busy and your desk reflects this.

Thanks for your comment earlier. For the wax paper technique you emboss some wax paper then sandwich it between two pieces of card, place a piece of copy paper on top of the sandwich and then press with a very hot iron - best to do this on a craft sheet. Once it's cool, ink all over - the wax acts as a resist and the pattern from the embossing should show through, especially after buffing with a dry tissue. I say should because my first attempt has not been successful but I think perhaps it was because I used a mask and didn't get the sandwich quite right, or perhaps I didn't have the iron hot enough. The results are subtle but always look good when I see Ali Reeves demoing it. It took me sometime to source the right kind of wax paper - it has to be the kind that you often find wrapping handmade soap. I'll do a post on it when done and show the results, good or bad :)

Happy WOYWW. Hope you have an enjoyable week. Elizabeth x #18

  17. I love Lavinia stamps and CI, so lucky you to be working with both.
The poppy field is beautiful. It's enough on it's own to inspire something crafty.

I have blog candy on offer so feel free to sign up to be in with a chance to win.

  18. Oh the poppy fields are stunning!! We have several of that same strain growing in our front yard and I just love it when they bloom every year. A few hours from where we live are commercial tulip farms, and you can go in April and see nothing but fields and fields of color...breathtaking!

Thanks for telling me about stamping bleach on light colors of card stock too. I'll have to try that. I didn't think it would show up, but now I know better!!
